Accounting Technician I.A.T.I.

Accounting TechnicianIntroduction
An intensive course providing a qualification in accounting and information technology skills for professionals working in practice, industry/commerce and in the public sector.

Duration
Two year full-time course including 16 weeks work experience [on one-day a week basis]

Certification
  • MIATI Certificate of Membership (Member of “The Institute of Accounting Technicians in Ireland”.
  • FETAC Certification in Spreadsheets, Databases and Payroll
  • ECDL Certification
Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate with five passes on ordinary level papers (minimum grade D) or four passes of which at least two are on higher level papers (minimum grade D). Passes must be obtained in English and at least one subject from mathematics or accountancy. Mature students may also apply but are exempt from the Leaving Cert. requirements.

Career Options
As an accounting technician, you will be working alongside qualified accountants in business, industry, private practice and the public sector. The comprehensive training you receive means that you can perform a wide range of roles in any organisation, from accounts clerk to assistant accountant, from credit controller to systems administrator.

Exemption arrangements have been negotiated with such bodies as:

  • The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland
  • The Chartered Association of Certified Accountants
  • The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
  • The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators
  • The Institute of Bankers of Ireland
  • W.I.T. - B.A. in Accounting
Successful accounting technician graduates can now transfer to Formation 2 of the C.P.A. course. M.I.A.T.I. holders are exempt from Formation 1 and two subjects at Formation 2 Level.
