About Coláiste Chathail Naofa

Coláiste Chathail Naofa is named after a local Irish saint, St. Cathaldus, who was born near Cappagh, Co Waterford and who established a monastic settlement in Ireland in the 7th century. Having spent many years in Ireland, he went on a pilgrimage to Italy, where he remained preaching the gospel until he died. He was to become as famous in Italy as St Patrick is in Ireland.

Located near Dungarvan town centre, County Waterford, Coláiste Chathail Naofa provides education to leaving certificate standard while offering a wide range of post -leaving certificate courses and evening classes.

At Coláiste Chathail Naofa our aim is to be a centre of excellence in education. Care for individual pupils is a strong part of our ethos, and all pupils are encouraged to reach their full potential, emotionally, intellectually and socially, becoming a well-integrated, self-confident, competent person who is committed to the service of their community. This core vision is possible with respect for oneself and respect for others.

The school has been at its present location since 2002, when the magnificent new building with state of the art facilities was completed. This follows a long history of providing education at the former location of Wolfe Tone Road.

Our school logo

The starting point for our logo came from the initials of Coláiste Chathail Naofa: CCN.  The design has two parts, the coloured design, and the white sections which depict a student.  The shape that the letters make symbolise the student being supported and encouraged by the different areas of the college, by the teachers in the secondary school, teachers in the Post Leaving Certificate section and by fellow students.  It is a logo that repreresents our whole school community as we support each other in an environment of respect.
